Good question. I look for businesses that are coming out of their 52 week low. Obviously this isn't a slam dunk approach, but I've found that I've never lost money when using this combo. Like $FPH a few months ago.
I look for a combination of hitting a 52 week low and then 5/6 weeks of positive upward momentum paired with a cheap valuation to assess a bottom. This part of "investing" is certainly more of an art than a science.
