As a Southeast Asian, and more broadly as part of the Asian cultural sphere, my parents—and by extension, I—have always been deeply fascinated with gold, both in terms of its intrinsic properties and its enduring value. In many Asian cultures, gold is more than just a precious metal; it holds significant cultural, financial, and even spiritual importance.
From a cultural perspective, gold is often associated with wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. It is commonly given as a gift during important life events such as weddings, births, and religious ceremonies. For instance, in many South Asian and Southeast Asian traditions, families accumulate gold jewelry as a form of financial security and a display of social status. This practice is rooted in centuries of tradition where gold was seen as a hedge against economic uncertainty and a portable, universally accepted form of wealth.
Therefore, I own plenty of the metal, but with the price recently skyrocketing to close to 3000 an ounce there has to be a better way to invest in the commodity with torque.
